Don't just take our word for it...see what guests and donors have to say about Pittsburgh Fisher House!
"Thank you for being there when I needed a place to stay." "Their recovery depends on knowing we are safe." "There are not enough adjectives in the dictionary to describe the Fisher House and its staff. I want to thank you all for your compassion and attention. I felt so at home - I hated leaving! From deep within my heart." "Thank you for your kindness and generosity while they were so far from home." "Thank you so much for the wonderful care you gave our friend and member of our American Legion Auxiliary. She was telling us about her stay and we wanted to give a donation in her honor." “Words cannot describe the hospitality and the way you people have taken care of us. We will always be thinking of you and you will always be in our prayers.” "My stay at the Fisher House made the complicated and devastating news and care for my father at the VA Hospital easier to bear. Dad is on hospice now, we both are very thankful that I was able to stay somewhere that gave us both peace of me being safe. Tessa, was amazingly kind and caring, and her professionalism beyond compare. The Fisher House was more than a place to stay for me. I was blessed to make friends with ladies who were also enduring their own ups and downs going on in the lives of their loved ones. With tears in my eyes, I write this with thankfulness that is in no comparison to the expression of care and compassion that I received there." "I have heard over the years of the fine work that you continue to do to help our veterans. I hear that the welcome is always warm and the staff and volunteers and other residents are sincere and devoted to making life better for those who come to you for help." “Thank you! Thank you for this wonderful place! The grand opening came just in time for me. Being able to stay here while my husband was in ICU was a blessing. This wonderful place is home without being home. Thank you again.” "Loved my stay!" “Why I chose you… When I was about 10 years old my uncle died while serving in Somalia during Operation Restore Hope. My whole family attended his funeral down in Fort Bragg, NC. Coming from PA with that many people would have been a coordinating nightmare, but the Fisher House down there took us all in and let us all stay there for a few days. With the help of his unit, we were taken care of our whole time there. Since then, I have always given back to the Fisher House when I could. My Mother also used to come to the Pittsburgh location to make meals on the holidays for those staying at your place. Fisher House has always been near to my heart, and I think it is an amazing place that a lot of people do not even know exists.” "We are so proud to support the Friends of the Pittsburgh Fisher House and their campaign to build a second house in Pittsburgh. Free temporary lodging is such a vital need for the thousands of Veterans in Pennsylvania and those of the Tri-State Area who travel to the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System for medical treatment. Thank you to the Pittsburgh Fisher House for all you do to provide a 'home away from home' for families of Veterans and active-duty military who are hospitalized in Pittsburgh.” “My wife was the one with major surgery and she set up my stay with the Fisher House. Once I walked over form the hospital and opened the door the stress was gone. Everything is made so simple for your stay. The staff – Heather, Tom, Terry and Duane – and the volunteers made me feel at home.” "I will be forever thankful for the Fisher House and for those who make such a place possible. Their generosity has allowed me to concentrate on what is most important to me - the care of my husband." “We are so grateful to God for this place. We truly have been blessed to have come across such thoughtful and loving people. My father had a kidney transplant at the VA hospital and needed to be there for 3 weeks and we live so far away (El Paso, TX). He had been able to recover peacefully and rest knowing that my Mother and I had a warm place to stay nearby. It is our last day here and with a bittersweet feeling we say “until we meet again” to people who quickly became like family to us. God Bless you Heather, Tom, Duane, Terry, Elda and all others who make this such a wonderful place. You all helped us feel right at home being able to cook and share with others as we normally would in our home made us relax and unwind in the midst of it all. Fisher House allowed us to make new friends and connect with them wile praying for each other and extend comfort and support. This place provides so much more than just a roof, bed and meals. May God continue to provide and bless this home. May each person that walks in here feel that special warmth and receive tranquility as my mother and I did. Again, THANK YOU!” “Fisher House, what can I say? You are a God-send to the families. The house is beautiful and all of those concerned are fabulous. I couldn’t have been treated better. I was here over a month and I was so glad to have such a beautiful room to sleep – the bed is so comfortable! Thank you everyone for showing me love and friendship." “The Fisher House is an amazing place to stay. I enjoyed having the opportunity to meet and chat with individual and families that were dealing with a similar struggle. It’s a quiet, warm place to relax and sleep while your loved one is recovering in the VA. My fiancé and I are so grateful to have stayed here, a place so close to his father while he got better. He is so important to us and with the Fisher House that wouldn’t have been possible. We are so grateful.” |
