The Need is Growing
|
Pittsburgh serves as a regional medical hub for veterans across western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and northern West Virginia. Families often travel hours to be near a loved one receiving specialized or extended care.
Since opening in 2012, the House has served thousands of families. In recent years, demand has continued to increase as medical complexity grows and more veterans require long term or repeat treatment in the region. When the House is full, families must seek alternative lodging, often at significant financial and emotional cost. The second House will ensure that more families can stay close during critical moments. More than double capacity

What the Second House Will Provide
The second Pittsburgh Fisher House will more than double our capacity to serve military and veteran families traveling for medical care. Located adjacent to the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System facilities in Aspinwall, the new House will provide the same welcoming, residential environment families rely on during long and uncertain hospital stays.
With additional private guest suites, shared gathering spaces, and expanded common areas, the second House will ensure that more families can stay close to their loved one without financial burden.
This expansion is not simply about square footage. It is about presence. It means fewer families turned away, fewer nights spent searching for lodging, and more time together when it matters most.

A Community Made This Possible
Thanks to the incredible Pittsburgh community, we are thrilled to announce that we have reached the $3 million target in our Capital Campaign towards the building of the second Pittsburgh Fisher House.
This milestone is only possible because of your generous support, and we are deeply grateful to every supporter who helped us achieve this goal.
The chart below illustrates the breadth of that support. This campaign was not driven by one group alone, but by a community united in service to military and veteran families.
The Capital Campaign will remain open until the new house is complete, so those who wish to continue supporting our capital campaign are welcome to contribute. These funds will be designated purchasing needed furnishings and supplies to ensure the new house is completely ready for its occupants and also refreshing and maintaining the current Pittsburgh Fisher House in Oakland.
